Interactions
Drug :- Amitriptyline, haloperidol, imipramine, loxapine, MAO inhibitors, methyldopa, phenothiazines, reserpine: May interfere with bromocriptine's effects. Bromocriptine dosage may need to be increased.
Antihypertensives: May increase hypotensive effects. Adjust dosage of antihypertensive.
Chloramphenicol, probenecid, salicylates, sulfonamides: May increase unbound fraction of other highly protein-bound drugs. Monitor patient for increased adverse reactions.
Ergot-related drugs: May increase occurrence of ergot-related adverse effects and reduce effectiveness of these therapies. Avoid concomitant use.
Estrogens, hormonal contraceptives, progestins: May interfere with effects of bromocriptine. Avoid using together.
Levodopa: May have additive effects. Adjust dosage of levodopa, if needed.
Macrolides (erythromycin): May increase bromocriptine level and risk of adverse reactions. Use together cautiously.
Triptans (sumatriptan): May have additive vasoconstrictive effects. Concomitant use is contraindicated, don't use within 24 hours of one another.
