The most common side effects of Drez 1%/5% Ointment are - Itchy Skin, Cough, Stuffy Nose, Sore Throat, Headache, Vaginal Itching
These side effects can usually occur in patients. However, these are only indicative and not all patients will experience them.
Precautions while taking Drez 1%/5% Ointment
Do not use Drez 1%/5% Ointment if you are allergic to - Metronidazole Topical , Povidone Iodine
If you have heart disease, liver or kidney disease, drug or alcohol addiction, consult your doctor before using Drez 1%/5% Ointment.
If you are allergic to any medicine or food, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Use this medicine under the supervision of your doctor.
To avoid an adverse reaction, consult your doctor if you are already taking other medicines.
Dosage of Drez 1%/5% Ointment
Drez 1%/5% Ointment contains - Metronidazole Topical , Povidone Iodine
Metronidazole Topical is a direct-acting trichomonicide and amebicide that works inside and outside the intestines. It's thought to enter the cells of microorganisms that contain nitroreductase, forming unstable compounds that bind to DNA and inhibit synthesis, causing cell death.
Povidone Iodine kills eukaryotic or prokaryotic cells through iodination of lipids and oxidation of cytoplasmic and membrane compounds.
Overdose of Drez 1%/5% Ointment
The dosage of Drez 1%/5% Ointment depends on many factors such as the patient age, health, medical condition or history of the patient and many other conditions.
Please use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
Onset of Action of Drez 1%/5% Ointment
If you forget to take a dose of Drez 1%/5% Ointment, do not take two doses at the same time, there is a risk of overdose.
If you notice any unusual reaction in your body after taking this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or call your local medical emergency number.

Interactions
Drug :- Busulfan:
May increase busulfan toxicity. Avoid using together.
Cimetidine:
May increase risk of metronidazole toxicity because of inhibited hepatic metabolism.
Monitor for toxicity.
CYP3A4 substrates:
May increase concentration of aripiprazole, dofetilide, lomitapide, and
pimozide. Monitor therapy.
Disulfiram:
May cause acute psychosis and confusion. Avoid giving metronidazole within 2 weeks of
disulfiram.
Lithium:
May increase lithium level, which may cause toxicity. Monitor lithium level.
Mebendazole:
May increase risk of Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis.
Consider therapy modification.
Phenobarbital, phenytoin:
May decrease metronidazole effectiveness, may reduce total phenytoin
clearance. Monitor patient.
Warfarin:
May increase anticoagulant effects and risk of bleeding. Reduce warfarin as needed.
