The most common side effects of Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet are - Headache, Nasopharyngitis, Abdominal Pain, Sore Throat, Diarrhea, Constipation, Nausea, Vomiting
These side effects can usually occur in patients. However, these are only indicative and not all patients will experience them.
Precautions while taking Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet
Do not use Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet if you are allergic to - Sitagliptin , Metformin
If you have heart disease, liver or kidney disease, drug or alcohol addiction, consult your doctor before using Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet.
If you are allergic to any medicine or food, consult your doctor before using this medicine.
Use this medicine under the supervision of your doctor.

Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet contains - Sitagliptin , Metformin
Sitagliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme that destroys GLP and GIP hormones, allowing both to function more effectively. Both glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) are released by the intestine and affect blood glucose levels.
Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
Overdose of Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet
The dosage of Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet depends on many factors such as the patient age, health, medical condition or history of the patient and many other conditions.

Onset of Action of Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet
If you forget to take a dose of Istamet 50mg/500mg Tablet, do not take two doses at the same time, there is a risk of overdose.

Interactions
Drug :-
ACE inhibitors, disopyramide, fibric acid derivatives, fluoxetine, sulfonylureas: Possibly increased hypoglycemic effects.
beta blockers: Possibly prolonged hypoglycemia or promotion of hyperglycemia.
digoxin: Slightly increased plasma digoxin level.
estrogens, oral contraceptives, phenytoin, progestines, thiazide diuretics, triamterene: Possibly decreased hypoglycemic effects.
