Interactions
Drug :-
ACE inhibitors (enalapril, lisinopril, moexipril, quinapril), ARBs (candesartan,
losartan, olmesartan, valsartan), eplerenone, potassium-sparing diuretics (amiloride,
spironolactone):
May increase risk of hyperkalemia. Monitor potassium level closely.
Antihypertensives:
May increase hypotension. Monitor patient closely.
Carbamazepine:
May decrease canagliflozin serum concentration. Consider increasing canagliflozin
dosage based on GFR.
Digoxin:
May increase digoxin level. Monitor digoxin level periodically.
Insulin and insulin secretagogues (glipizide, repaglinide):
May increase risk of hypoglycemia.
Consider lower dosage of insulin or insulin secretagogue.
Lomitapide:
May increase lomitapide level. Limit maximum adult dosage of lomitapide to 30 mg
daily.
Loop diuretics:
May cause hypotension and intravascular volume depletion. Consider alternative
therapy.
Salicylates:
May increase hypoglycemic effects. Monitor patient closely.
SSRIs (citalopram, fluoxetine, sertraline):
May increase canagliflozin level. Monitor patient closely.
Canagliflozin dosage may need adjustment if SSRI is discontinued.
UGT inducers (phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampin, ritonavir):
May decrease canagliflozin level.
Adjust canagliflozin dosage based on estimated GFR.
Herb :-
St. John's wort:
May decrease canagliflozin serum concentration. Consider increasing
canagliflozin dosage based on GFR.
